Lumbini Medical College (LMC) was founded with the goal of making Palpa a premier hub for tourism, healthcare, and education. LMC has been operating for more than thirteen years despite the challenges of building a medical college in a hilly area.
On December 11, 2005, the college was first incorporated as a private limited company with the Registrar of Companies. On April 16, 2014, the institution underwent a conversion to become a public limited company.
On January 3, 2007, LMC received a letter of approval in principle from the Ministry of Health and Population to operate a 300-bed hospital. In 2008, the college launched a certificate-level nursing program (PCL nursing), which served as the institution's academic cornerstone.
The MBBS program got going. In partnership with Kathmandu University, LMC added postgraduate courses in 2015 as part of an expansion of its academic offerings.
The college is committed to offering top-notch medical treatment to the rural residents of Palpa and the neighboring areas through its teaching hospital. It presently provides services to more than a million people who live in the districts of Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Syangja, as well as some of Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, and Nawalparasi.
